Our Programmes
Whether you need help with learning English, meet
like-minded people at our social events or learn new skills, we have programmes that can help you achieve your aims.
Monday
Luncheon Club
11.30am - 1.30pm
Come along, meet new people and enjoy a hot or cold meal cooked by our dedicated staff and volunteers.
Health Checks
Held once a Month
​
Once a month we have a Mini health check by the NHS nurse, you can get your Blood pressure, Cholesterol and Diabetes Checked. Or if you have any other queires you want medical advice on, you can speak to the nurse.
Tuesday
Basic Literacy
10.00am - 11.00am
If English isn't your first language, this literacy class for beginners can pave the way for you to attend an accredited ESOL class.
Wednesday
Sewing Classes
9.30-11.30 am
Learn a new skill or polish what you know already. Can be helpful for your career or just as a hobby to make new friends. This class is funded by The National Lottery
Thursday
Chair based exercise/Fitness
12.30 pm - 13.30pm
Don't feel confident in your own body? Why not attend our Chair based Exercise class and focus on all elements of fitness

Caring for carers Support group
11.30am - 12.30pm

Join our support group, to get information and advice and meet others who are caring for loved ones.
Monday
Conversation Class
12.30-2.30pm
Speaking support for learners whose first language isn't English, helping them gain the communication skills to help them with going onto the Adult carers class
Tuesday
Level 1 Literacy
10.00am - 11.00am
Developing foundational competency including reading, writing, math and overall life-skill development
Tuesday
Basic IT Class
11.30am - 12.30pm
Basic IT class is designed to give learners the knowledge and skills to understand short, straightforward texts; type simple sentences and carry out basic online needs
Wednesday
Support groups

You’ll have the opportunity to hear from health
professionals about subjects you have already told us you are interested in, such as Healthy
eating, Diabetes, Exercise, Maintaining a healthy mind.
Thursday
Adult care Level 1/2
9.30am - 2.30pm
Study to achieve your Level One certificate in Adult and Childcare. This will also give you access and funding to study a Level Two Diploma in Adult Care. Funded by the The National Lottery

Our experienced Bilingual Community Support workers offer daily advice sessions to members.

Our family support workers are able to refer and signpost women to training, classes and support groups to help you gain confidence and new skills to make
informed choices.
Housing, Health and Immigration Advice
We offer one to one support with housing applications, health matters and immigration issues.

Whether you need help with applications, form filling or help accessing relevant health care, we can assist.

Around the Centre
Our centre is based in the heart of South Shields with easy access to the town centre and great transport links.
Learning Centre
We have a Learning Centre where you can access a range of in-house courses and focus groups, as well as a fully equipped sewing class.
Computer Suite
We have a fully equipped computer suite with eight workstations. Join us for IT classes, or pop in to make use of our free internet facilities.
Kitchen
We have a kitchen with a dining area. Perfect for our Luncheon Club and informal sessions and
get-togethers.
